Autism Teaching Assistant

As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils with ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) access learning, manage routines, and develop social and communication skills in a nurturing, structured environment. You'll work closely with class teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a consistent and supportive experience for the students.
The ideal Autism Teaching Assistant will:
Have experience supporting children or young people with autism or complex learning needs
Be calm, patient, and adaptable to individual student requirements
Use visual supports, routines, and sensory strategies effectively
Be confident using PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems (desirable but not essential)
Genuinely care about helping pupils overcome barriers and celebrate every achievementKey Responsibilities:
Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with autism
Supporting the delivery of tailored learning activities
Assisting with communication strategies and sensory regulation
Encouraging independence and social development
Working collaboratively with the SEN team to implement individual education plans (IEPs)In return, Academics offers:
