Job Description
Milk Education are recruiting for a resilient, confident Behaviour Support Assistant to join a Secondary School in Wakefield on a short-term, day-to-day supply basis, starting ASAP!
We’re looking for Behaviour Support Assistants who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning. This role is ideal for someone with strong behaviour management skills, empathy, and a calm, supportive approach.
You’ll be joining a supportive and inclusive school community that values respect and resilience — and works hard to give every student the tools they need to succeed.
This is a fantastic opportunity for those with experience in schools, youth work, or care settings to make a real difference in the lives of students who need extra guidance.
What You’ll Be Doing as a Behaviour Support Assistant:
Supporting students with behavioural and emotional needs on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
Promoting positive behaviour strategies and de-escalating challenging situations calmly and effectively
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral team to support students’ progress
Providing consistency, encouragement, and practical support throughout the school day
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Must have recent experience supporting young people with behavioural or SEMH needs
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, non-confrontational approach
Background in education, youth work, or a similar setting is highly desirable
Ability to build trust and motivate students who may be disengaged from learning
