One of my local government clients is seeking a highly skilled and professional Business Support Officer to join our Children’s Services team. This vital role requires an experienced administrator with exceptional minute-taking skills and the ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
About the Role
The successful candidate will play a crucial part in supporting meetings involving vulnerable children and young people. As minute taking constitutes approximately 90% of this role, accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism are essential. You will ensure that all records, minutes, and supporting documentation are produced in a timely and precise manner to support the delivery of effective services within Children’s Services.
Key Responsibilities

Attend and minute complex and sensitive meetings within Children’s Services
*
Produce accurate, detailed, and timely minutes in line with Council procedures and safeguarding standards
*
Manage and maintain confidential records and documentation securely
*
Provide administrative support to the service, including scheduling, document preparation, and coordination of meetings
*
Liaise professionally with internal teams, social care professionals, and external partners
*
Ensure all information is handled in accordance with data protection and confidentiality requirements
About You
You will be a professional and discreet administrator with strong communication and organisational skills. You must have the confidence and experience to take accurate and impartial minutes in highly sensitive settings.
Essential Skills and Experience

Extensive minute-taking experience – applications without this experience will not be considered

Proven administrative background, ideally within a local authority or Council environment – this is essential or highly desirable

Ability to manage confidential information sensitively and responsibly
*
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
*
Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
*
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Teams)
