We're recruiting a Procurement & Supply Chain Specialist on behalf of an innovative, growing technology business based in Waterbeach, Cambridge. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a salary of £35,000 – £40,000, and a genuine opportunity to play a key role in developing a high-performing, cost-effective international supply chain at an exciting time of growth for the business.
This is a varied, commercially focused role where no two days look the same. You'll work across supplier management, purchasing strategy, contract negotiation and continuous improvement — collaborating with stakeholders across the business and engaging with an international supply base. The role is fully office-based five days a week at the Cambridge HQ, so local candidates who can commute are strongly preferred. Some international travel is required, so a valid passport, full clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential — travel expenses will be covered.
Main Responsibilities:
* Managing key supplier accounts and scheduling materials to support customer demand
* Negotiating contracts and driving cost reduction across the supply base
* Processing purchase orders and managing lean inventory levels
* Ensuring materials are delivered on time to meet customer requirements
* Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the international supply base
* Identifying and assessing new supply sources to support cost reduction and quality improvement targets
* Supporting new product introduction activity and ensuring relevant process controls are in place
* Managing component obsolescence and monitoring commodity market movements
* Working with the Senior Buyer to define and implement purchasing strategy
* Contributing to supply chain development with a focus on total cost of acquisition
Skills/Experience:
* Supply chain or procurement experience within the electronics or telecommunications industries — essential
* Experience managing offshore contract manufacturing — essential
* Background supporting product development from concept through to volume manufacture
* Strong influencing and negotiation skills, with credibility at senior level internally and externally
* Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and with international stakeholders
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and act decisively under pressure
* Highly motivated, results-driven and detail-oriented
* Level 4 CIPS Diploma, or actively working towards it
* Valid passport, full clean driving licence and own vehicle — essential
* Prepared to travel internationally as required
Salary & Working Hours:
£35,000 – £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience. Full-time, permanent position. Fully office-based five days per week at the Cambridge HQ. International travel required — travel expenses reimbursed.
