Job Description
Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Cable Design Engineer on a permanent basis based in UK Wide.
Role Summary
· Cable rating and thermal analysis (IEC60287)
· Induced voltage and EMF calculations
· Thermo-mechanical and short circuit force calculations
· Cable pulling tension and feasibility studies
· Approve bonding/line diagrams, material specifications, and route layouts.
· Chair design reviews, HAZID, and hazard assessments.
· Ensure compliance with client specifications and industry standards (IEC, CIGRE).
· Manage internal and external engineering teams and ensure project delivery within scope, time, and budget
· Act as the primary technical liaison with clients and stakeholders.
· Drive innovation and continuous improvement in HV cable design practices.
· Support the development of internal standards and quality assurance processes.
Requirements
· BEng/Bsc/Msc in Electrical & Electronical Engineering, Power systems or related field – or equivalent qualifications and experience
