CAD Technician / CAD Engineer – Water Sector (Thames Region)
Salary: £35,000 to £45,000
We are representing a growing engineering consultancy delivering design and technical support for projects across the Thames region’s major water companies. Their work spans clean water and wastewater networks, pumping stations, rising mains, refurbishments and treatment process upgrades. This role sits at the centre of their design function, supporting engineers across multiple disciplines and helping shape the technical output of each project.
About the Role
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys taking an engineering concept and turning it into a clear, accurate and buildable drawing. You will work closely with civil, mechanical, electrical and process engineers, contributing to the development of designs used throughout the project lifecycle. Every scheme is different and you will be involved in layouts, modelling, detailing and supporting the production of technical documentation for both new installations and existing asset improvements.
Key Responsibilities
• Produce high quality CAD drawings in 2D and 3D for water and wastewater projects across the Thames region
• Prepare general arrangements, sections, equipment layouts, P&IDs and installation details
• Interpret engineering and survey information, incorporating site data into accurate drawing outputs
• Manage drawing updates as designs evolve and ensure revision control is maintained
• Support production of as built information following project completion
• Work closely with project managers, engineers and supply chain partners to ensure designs reflect technical and on site requirements
• Contribute to internal design reviews and support the overall quality of the engineering deliverables
Experience and Skills Required
• Background as a CAD Technician or CAD Engineer, ideally with exposure to water, wastewater, civil or MEICA related projects
• Strong AutoCAD skills in 2D with experience of 3D modelling being an advantage
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical information
• Strong attention to detail and confidence managing multiple drawing packages
• Good communication skills, particularly when working with engineers and project stakeholders
• A genuine interest in water sector design and infrastructure projects
