As a result of our projected workload, we are seeking a Design Coordinator to strengthen our Design Team. Initially, you will be working on schemes across the Midlands but our portfolio enables you the opportunity to work on projects nationwide. The role involves co-ordinating the activities of our design partners to deliver projects such as new and replacement debris screens on watercourses and enabling fish and eel passage on weirs and other structures for valued clients such as the Environment Agency.
As a Design Coordinator, you will use your industry experience to help our clients scope work packages that meet their needs. You will work with our Company Design Manager to help select design partners with the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience to deliver the work to the high-quality standards we expect. You will support our designers in setting technical standards, creating ambitious programmes of work and driving their delivery to achieve these. This is a partnership approach that requires excellent people skills to foster positive working relationships.
Now is an exciting time to join Jackson Civil Engineering as we experience an increase in design and build civil engineering schemes and look ahead to opportunities presented by future frameworks with our key clients.
Main Duties include:
* Proactively managing a design team which may include consultants and/or specialist designers.
* Attending meetings with clients, including presenting and discussing design solutions.
* Preparation of design documents, briefs, reports and management plans.
* Development and management of design programmes.
* Reviewing design documents for compliance with scheme requirements, utilising gained knowledge and experience to advise on buildability and value engineering opportunities.
We’re after someone with:
* Good collaborative communication skills.
* Must have an engineering background which allows them to envisage how schemes are built for example at experienced Senior Engineer, Sub Agent, Site Agent or Site Manager level.
* A liking for detail and accuracy.
* Programming software skills and experience in coordinating design programmes.
* The ability to manage and ensure quality throughout design process and approval.
* An understanding of the need to work to accepted design processes, procedures, guidance, codes and standards.
* Awareness of applicable CDM Regulation requirements and able to ensure the designers implement them.
* A general understanding of common construction specifications.
* Soft management skills to encourage designers to provide on time, right first time, solutions.
