Overview for Electrical Testing & Inspection Engineer
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established electrical services provider operating across South London. This role focuses on fixed wiring testing (EICRs) and remedial works within communal areas of residential buildings, including housing association and local authority properties. Occasional work within individual domestic units may also be required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for completing electrical inspections, reporting, and remedial works to a high standard, ensuring compliance with current regulations. This is a field-based role with support from a central operations team and occasional collaboration with an electrician’s mate.
Key Responsibilities for Electrical Testing & Inspection Engineer
• Conduct Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) in communal and residential settings
• Carry out remedial works, including small-scale installations such as 3-phase distribution board replacements
• Perform electrical testing, fault finding, and maintenance in accordance with current standards
• Interpret electrical drawings and site schematics where required
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and electrical regulations (e.g., BS7671)
• Accurately complete digital certification and job documentation using mobile software
• Communicate effectively with residents, clients, and team members
• Maintain a high standard of customer service and professionalism
• Participate in training and support business improvements as needed
Essential Skills & Experience for Electrical Testing & Inspection Engineer
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and inspection procedures
• Proven experience in EICR testing and remedial works
• Competence with 3-phase systems and electrical installations
• Ability to diagnose faults and complete accurate reports
• Familiarity with mobile job management and certification platforms
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to quality workmanship
Qualifications Required for Electrical Testing & Inspection Engineer
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Installation or equivalent
• City & Guilds 2391-51 or equivalent (Inspection & Testing)
• City & Guilds 2382-18 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations)
• AM2 (preferred)
• Full Driving Licence
