Engineering Team Leader – Fabrication Focus
Location: Tameside
Hours: Monday–Thursday 07:30–16:15, Friday 07:30–13:00 (38.5 hours/week)

We’re seeking a practical and hands-on Engineering Team Leader with strong fabrication experience to support a skilled workshop team and deliver high-quality results. This is an exciting opportunity to step into formal leadership or further develop your supervisory skills within a production and fabrication environment.
You’ll be a key part of daily operations – not just coordinating work but actively supporting your team on the shop floor. Your understanding of fabrication techniques will help maintain high standards, solve problems in real time, and keep projects running safely, smoothly, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Fabrication Leadership:
* Lead from the shop floor – actively support and guide team members during fabrication and assembly work.
* Delegate daily work orders and tasks, ensuring the right skills are applied to the right jobs.
* Act as the first point of contact for technical and operational queries, providing hands-on solutions where required.
* Liaise with planning and production teams to optimise workflow, resource allocation, and material usage.
* Monitor workmanship quality, ensuring fabricated components meet specification and safety standards.
* Identify process improvements and champion lean, safe, and efficient working practices.
* Report regularly to the Operations Manager on team progress, challenges, and successes.

* A confident, hands-on team leader with solid fabrication or workshop experience (welding, assembly, or related disciplines).
* Proven background in engineering, manufacturing, or production environments.
* Strong communicator and organiser, able to motivate and get the best out of your team.
* Practical problem-solver who can think on their feet and keep production on track.
* Committed to maintaining a safe, compliant, and continuously improving workplace.
