About the Role

Connex Education is recruiting passionate ECTs and experienced English Teachers for opportunities starting in September 2026.

We are currently supporting a number of friendly and inclusive secondary schools across Bristol, with roles available on both a short-term and long-term basis from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic English Teachers looking to further their career within supportive school environments that value high-quality teaching, inclusion, and pupil achievement.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging and inspiring English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
Teach a broad English curriculum, including Language and Literature
Adapt teaching and learning activities to support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
Create a positive and purposeful classroom environment that promotes creativity, resilience, and good behaviour
Use effective questioning, discussion, and a variety of teaching strategies to make English accessible and engaging
Mark work, assess progress, and provide constructive feedback to support pupil achievement in English
Build positive working relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to promote learning and wellbeing
What We’re Looking For

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred, although strong secondary teaching experience in English will also be considered
A passionate and engaging teaching style with confidence in delivering English lessons
Strong subject knowledge across the English curriculum
Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the classroom
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education
