Job Description

GCSE English Teacher – Special School (SEND)
 Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity | Potential to Become Permanent

*Must be available to start from September*

We are seeking a committed and resilient GCSE English Teacher to join a specialist secondary setting on a full-time, long-term basis, with the possibility of the role becoming permanent for the right candidate.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident secondary-trained teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and challenging behaviour, while maintaining high expectations for both learning and conduct.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Be available full time and on a long-term basis
Be secondary trained, ideally specialising in English, or have extensive experience teaching GCSE English
Have experience managing challenging behaviour within either an SEN setting or mainstream secondary school
Demonstrate an excellent track record in behaviour management and pupil engagement
Maintain high expectations for teaching, learning, and pupil progress
Be adaptable, resilient, and able to build positive relationships with students and staff
Not be an ECT

The Role:

Deliver engaging and differentiated GCSE English lessons
Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
Create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
Work collaboratively with support staff and the wider school team
Contribute to improving outcomes for students who require additional support
This rewarding role would suit a strong classroom practitioner who can inspire and motivate young people while confidently managing behaviour and promoting positive learning experiences.
