Job Description

are currently recruiting for a passionate and motivated English Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in County Durham from June 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher to become part of a supportive English department committed to delivering engaging and high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. Applications from both experienced teachers and ECTs are welcomed. The Role: Planning and delivering engaging English Language and Literature lessons Teaching across KS3 and KS4 Monitoring and assessing pupil progress in line with school policies Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment Supporting pupils of varying abilities to achieve their full potential Contributing to the wider school community and departmental development The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting Strong classroom and behaviour management skills Excellent subject knowledge and communication skills A passion for education and inspiring young people An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) Position Details: Role: English Teacher Location: County Durham Pay Rate: £180 – £240 per day Contract: Full time Start Date: June 2026 Duration: Until the end of the academic year, with the potential to continue from September 2027 The school offers a welcoming environment, supportive leadership, and excellent opportunities for professional development.
