Position: Feedstock Manager (X2 Positions)
Location : Somerset, Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire
Salary: £TBC (Dependant on Experience, Plus Performance Related Bonus)
Our client is a leading UK based renewable energy company specializing in the production of biomethane through anaerobic digestion. By partnering closely with local farmers, they convert agricultural and organic waste into clean, green energy while generating valuable by-products such as nutrient-rich bio-fertiliser and high-purity green CO₂. This closed-loop approach supports sustainable agriculture, drives rural economic development, and advances the circular economy. With several projects already under development across the United Kingdom, their ambition is to become the country's leading producer of biomethane and to supply up to 25% of the UK's total output. In doing so, it plays a key role in supporting the Government's target to quadruple biomethane production by (Apply online only) and in delivering long-term value for local communities while accelerating the UK's transition to net zero.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Sourcing:Identify and source agricultural feedstocks, fresh produce residues, and by-products from farms, food processors, and other agricultural producers.
Supplier Relationship Management:Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, agricultural businesses, other suppliers and biogas plants.
Market Analysis:Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply chain dynamics to ensure competitive purchasing and selling strategies. Provide insights into the most effective procurement methods.
Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination:Oversee the logistics of transporting feedstocks to biogas plants, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining cost-efficiency. Collaborate with internal teams to coordinate storage, handling, and processing needs.
Regulatory Compliance:Ensure all feedstock procurement processes adhere to relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as industry best practices.
Data & Reporting:Maintain detailed records of procurement transactions, pricing trends, and supplier performance. Prepare regular reports for senior management on procurement activities, cost savings, and business growth.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
There are two vacancies available, one of which will be a more senior position. For these roles, the company is open to candidates with a background in agronomy or those who are qualified Agronomists. Experience in sales or advisory roles with feedstock suppliers, livestock feed companies or farming machinery dealerships would also be beneficial. They would additionally be interested in speaking with Nutritionists or Grain Traders from within the farming or agriculture sector.
Knowledge of CRM software systems.
Advanced level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
Ability to work in a fast moving / high pressure environment.
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build long lasting relationships with suppliers.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Analytical mindset and the ability to assess market conditions, pricing, trends.
