Job Description – Engineer
Salary: £36,000 – £45,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Hampshire and surrounding counties
Position Summary
Engineers are responsible for maintaining a high level of technical knowledge and competence to safely and efficiently complete scheduled works and respond to emergency callouts independently. They must have a strong understanding of multiple disciplines within the Fire and Security sector, including but not limited to: Fire Alarms, Intruder Alarms, CCTV, Networking, and Access Control systems.
Key Responsibilities
*
Diagnose technical faults and resolve issues promptly.
*
Attend and rectify system malfunctions and emergencies as required.
*
Carry out installations while liaising with clients to ensure satisfaction.
*
Maintain, test, and commission Fire and Security systems.
*
Interpret and follow electrical drawings and building plans in line with NSI requirements and relevant Codes of Practice.
*
Liaise with Alarm Receiving Centres (ARC) as required.
*
Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all Health & Safety procedures, including Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
*
Participate in the out-of-hours service rota.
*
Provide client training and demonstrations, ensuring the end user understands system operation and functionality.
Person Specification
Essential:
*
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Fire or Security engineering role.
*
Full UK driving licence (subject to insurance verification).
*
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*
Strong administrative discipline with attention to accuracy and timely submission of paperwork.
*
Willingness to travel daily throughout Hampshire and neighbouring counties.
*
Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, wiring schematics, and relay logic.
Desirable:
*
Working knowledge of IP-based systems and networking.
*
Familiarity with one or more of the following systems: Hikvision, Paxton, Honeywell, Orisec, Texecom, AJAX, Dahua, Hanwha, PAC, Videx.
