Head of Business Operations Rate: £35.88 to £38.97 per hour – PAYE or £48.50 to £52.50 per hour – Umbrella Contract Length: 6 Months initially Location: London / Hybrid Are you a strategic and solutions-focused operations professional with a passion for enabling excellence in higher education? We’re seeking an experienced Head of Business Operations to play a pivotal role in driving the efficiency, performance, and continuous improvement of a large, complex Student Recruitment & Admissions division. The Role This is a senior enabling role responsible for ensuring the division operates effectively and delivers on its strategic and operational priorities. You’ll lead business operations across finance, HR coordination, procurement, and risk management—helping to embed strong governance, optimise resources, and enhance service delivery across the student recruitment and admissions lifecycle. Working closely with the Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team, you will: * Oversee divisional business operations, including finance management, HR coordination, and IT procurement. * Lead operational projects that span multiple functions, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities. * Embed robust risk management and compliance frameworks to safeguard financial, regulatory, and reputational integrity. * Develop and monitor performance measures to support strategic decision-making. * Drive workforce planning, staff engagement, and the delivery of divisional initiatives that improve ways of working and staff experience. About You You’ll bring substantial experience in operational leadership within a large, complex organisation—ideally in a higher education or similarly regulated environment. You are a confident and collaborative leader who can build strong relationships, influence at all levels, and deliver pragmatic solutions in a dynamic setting. You will also demonstrate: * Proven ability to manage financial and HR processes across multiple teams. * Excellent analytical, organisational, and project management skills. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate competing priorities and deliver results. * A commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and sustainability in your approach to leadership and operations.
