Full-Time Teacher of History Required - Outstanding Havering School (September 2025 Start - Key Stage 5 Essential)
Our Outstanding school in the welcoming borough of Havering, London, seeks a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Teacher of History to join our thriving Humanities department and make a real difference to the historical understanding and analytical skills of our students across Key Stage 3 and, crucially, Key Stage 4 and 5, commencing in September 2025.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and effective History lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of our students across all key stages, reflecting the local, national, and global historical context relevant to Havering.
* Fostering students' understanding of key historical periods, events, and interpretations, with a strong emphasis on the demands of the A-Level specification.
* Encouraging critical thinking, analysis, and evaluation of historical sources and historiography.
* Assessing and tracking student progress in History across all key stages, providing constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies, particularly for A-Level students.
* Contributing to the development, implementation, and review of the History curriculum across all key stages, ensuring alignment with examination specifications and opportunities for source analysis.
* Utilizing and contributing to the development of high-quality History resources, including digital tools, primary source collections, and contemporary historical scholarship relevant to the student population of Havering.
* Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote historical awareness and engagement within the school community (e.g., history clubs, museum visits).
* Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the Humanities department and across the wider school to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment.
* Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and keep abreast of current developments in historical scholarship and pedagogy, with a focus on A-Level teaching and assessment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* A degree in History or a closely related field.
* Successful experience teaching History across Key Stage 3, GCSE, and, crucially, A-Level.
* A strong and up-to-date understanding of the A-Level History curriculum and relevant examination specifications.
* Excellent pedagogical skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, particularly the academic rigor required at Key Stage 5.
* A passion for History and the ability to inspire students and foster their critical understanding of the past.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
* A commitment to the safeguarding and well-being of students and the promotion of historical literacy and informed citizenship within the Havering community.
