About the Role

Connex Education is recruiting passionate ECTs and experienced History Teachers for opportunities starting in September 2026.

We are currently supporting a number of friendly and inclusive secondary schools across Bristol, with roles available on both a short-term and long-term basis from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic History Teachers looking to further their career within supportive school environments that value high-quality teaching, inclusion, and pupil achievement.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging and inspiring History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
Teach a broad History curriculum, encouraging critical thinking, source analysis, and historical enquiry
Adapt teaching and learning activities to support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
Create a positive and purposeful learning environment that promotes curiosity, discussion, and good behaviour
Use effective questioning, source materials, and differentiated activities to make History lessons accessible and engaging
Assess progress, provide constructive feedback, and support pupil development in History
Build positive working relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to promote learning and wellbeing
What We’re Looking For

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred, although strong secondary teaching experience in History will also be considered
A passionate and engaging teaching style with confidence in delivering History lessons
Strong subject knowledge across the History curriculum
Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the classroom
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education
