Housing Enforcement Officer – Local Authority (Contract)
📍 South East England | 💼 Full-Time | 🏠 Hybrid or Remote | 💷 £30–£35 per hour (umbrella) | 📅 6-Month Contract
We’re working with a proactive local authority in the South East who are seeking an experienced Housing Enforcement Officer to support their Private Sector Housing team on a 6-month contract.
🔍 The Role:
You’ll be responsible for investigating complaints and enforcing housing standards in the private rented sector. This includes HHSRS inspections, HMO licensing, and taking enforcement action where necessary.
✅ What We’re Looking For:
Demonstrable experience in housing enforcement within a UK local authority
Strong working knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, HHSRS, and related legislation
Confident in preparing notices, reports, and legal documentation
Able to manage a caseload independently and hit the ground running
Relevant qualification in Environmental Health, Housing, or similar (desirable)
💼 Contract Details:
Duration: 6 months (with potential extension)
Rate: £30–£35 per hour (umbrella, DOE)
Location: South West England
