Housing Officer – Specialist Supported Accommodation
Location: Durham & Northeast
Contract: Temporary (6 months)
Field-based with flexible working
Are you an experienced Housing Officer looking for a role that truly makes a difference? This is an exciting opportunity to support vulnerable tenants across specialist supported accommodation in Durham and the North East — combining autonomy, purpose, and flexibility.
About the Role
As a Housing Officer, you’ll take responsibility for a portfolio of supported housing properties, visiting regularly and working closely with care and support providers. You’ll ensure tenants with additional needs are well supported, while maintaining high standards of housing management and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage a patch of specialist supported accommodation across Durham and surrounding areas
* Liaise with support providers to ensure tenants receive appropriate assistance
* Oversee Housing Benefit claims and evidence submission
* Monitor tenancy compliance, utilities, and manage ASB issues
* Maintain accurate records using housing management systems (Sassha experience desirable)
* Issue tenancy agreements and serve Section 21 notices where required
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience as a Housing Officer or similar housing management role
* Good understanding of Housing Benefit processes
* Organised, reliable, and detail-oriented
* Confident managing data and systems (Sassha knowledge a plus)
* Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
* Basic DBS required
