Job Description

Position: Teacher of Humanities Location: Chelmsford Salary Scale: £120 – £320 per day Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent Start Date: September 2026 GSL are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Humanities to join a forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school setting. This role involves delivering engaging, creative, and high-quality Humanities lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting students in developing critical thinking, analytical skills, cultural awareness, and a strong understanding of the world around them through subjects such as History, Geography, and Religious Education. You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to help students access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full academic and personal potential within a positive and supportive learning environment. If you are an experienced teacher, Early Career Teacher (ECT), or a passionate educator with strong subject knowledge and a commitment to raising attainment, student engagement, and academic excellence, we would love to hear from you. You will have opportunities for professional development and will support students in a range of settings, including: Delivering engaging and differentiated Humanities lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 Supporting GCSE exam preparation, coursework, and assessment readiness Encouraging independent learning, critical thinking, and classroom discussion Monitoring student progress through targeted intervention and constructive feedback Supporting enrichment opportunities, educational trips, projects, and extracurricular activities Promoting positive behaviour, resilience, and high expectations for all learners As a Teacher of Humanities, you will play a key role in supporting students’ academic progress, personal development, and overall engagement with learning. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an innovative curriculum and create an inclusive, supportive, and student-centred learning environment where every learner can thrive.
