We’re seeking a Temporary Income Officer to join our Housing and Community Services Team for a 3-month assignment based in Yorkshire. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting residents to maintain their tenancies, promoting financial wellbeing, and ensuring sustainable rent collection practices.
About the Role
As an Income Officer, you’ll take responsibility for maximising rental income and reducing arrears across our housing stock. You’ll work closely with residents to provide advice, guidance, and support on rent payments, benefits, and debt management — helping tenants to stay in their homes and thrive within their communities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Proactively manage rent accounts to minimise arrears and maximise income
* Support residents with income recovery, welfare advice, and budgeting support
* Take appropriate action to prevent and address rent arrears and financial hardship
* Work collaboratively with tenancy officers, housing support teams, and external agencies
* Promote financial inclusion and sustainment of tenancies
* Ensure compliance with housing legislation, policies, and procedures
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
* Proven experience in income management, rent collection, or housing arrears recovery
* Strong knowledge of housing legislation, benefits, and welfare reform
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* A resident-focused and empathetic approach to problem-solving
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy caseload
* Experience working within a housing association, local authority, or social housing environment
