Expire in: a month
You know those people who panic when a machine makes a strange noise?
Yeah, we’re looking for the person they call when that happens.
If you are a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer — or a “Maintenance Fitter” if you prefer the old-school title — to keep the wheels turning, literally.
You’ll be part of a small, hands-on team that fixes, maintains, and generally keeps our factory running like it’s supposed to. There’s no hiding behind a laptop here — it’s spanners, grease, hydraulics, bearings, and the occasional “what on earth is that noise?”
This is one of those jobs where you’ll be equal parts fitter, welder, problem-solver, and magician. Planned maintenance one minute, emergency breakdowns the next. If you like a bit of variety — and the satisfaction of bringing dead machinery back to life — you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll actually do
Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment and machinery
Carry out PPM and fault-finding (hydraulics, pneumatics, drive chains — all the usual suspects)
Align bearings, replace parts, keep things safe, and make them work again
Occasionally weld, fabricate, or otherwise get creative when a fix doesn’t exist yet
Keep safety front and centre — because no job’s worth doing if it lands you in A&E
You’ll need
A Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or General Engineering
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Solid fault-finding and problem-solving chops
A calm head when things go wrong (they will)
A team mindset and decent communication skills
Bonus points if you’ve got welding/fabrication experience, know your way around hydraulics and pneumatics, or have tinkered with electrical control systems before.
The shifts
4 on, 4 off — two earlies (6:30am–6:30pm), two lates (11am–11pm), then four glorious days off.
You’ll also do one Saturday every eight weeks (10am–7pm).
What’s in it for you
£51,678 average annual salary
Weekly pay (yes, weekly)
Overtime available
Pension and life assurance
Share scheme — own a slice of the company if that’s your thing
Flexible benefits for health, wellbeing, and saving money
Proper training and career progression — because we actually invest in people
If you’re the kind of mechanically minded human who can smell when a bearing’s about to go, who doesn’t panic when things break, and who enjoys fixing stuff that other people can’t — this is probably the sort of place you’ll enjoy working.
