Mechanical Engineering Manager – Industrial Refrigeration

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented design engineers within the field of industrial refrigeration and heat pump systems. This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring technical integrity, compliance, and successful delivery of large-scale turnkey refrigeration projects.
About the Role
In this role, you will manage a team of mechanical engineers responsible for reviewing, refining, and finalizing the design of industrial refrigeration systems. Your focus will be on ensuring that all designs are compliant with relevant standards, free from design flaws, and fully optimized for performance and reliability.
The engineering scope covers:
* Calculations: Thermodynamic, valve sizing, equipment selection, and automation.
* Documentation: IOMs, QA documentation, and regulatory compliance reports.
* Drawings: P&IDs, 2D/3D layouts, piping isometrics, and detailed mechanical drawings.
* Specifications and BOMs: Preparation and validation of key technical documentation.
* Control Philosophy: Development in collaboration with the electrical and controls team.

* Team Leadership & Development
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing mechanical engineering team.
* Foster collaboration, professional growth, and technical excellence.
* Plan and allocate resources to meet project and productivity goals.
Engineering Oversight
* Supervise and contribute to key design deliverables including P&IDs, valve lists, layout drawings, and BOMs.
* Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations and company standards.
* Support pre-sales engineering with technical insights when needed.
Project Engineering Management
* Manage day-to-day engineering operations and ensure clear communication across the team.
* Track progress, risks, and deliverables to ensure on-time, high-quality project outcomes.
* Collaborate with commercial and project teams to align engineering outputs with cost and schedule targets.
Process Improvement & Standardisation
* Drive standardisation across tools, processes, and documentation.
* Identify and implement opportunities for efficiency and innovation.
* Promote best practices and knowledge sharing across the engineering function.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Partner with procurement, operations, and product teams to achieve cost efficiency and project profitability.
* Ensure smooth handovers between pre-sales and execution phases.
About You
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Proven experience in industrial refrigeration, process systems, or thermal/mechanical engineering.
* Strong leadership and team management experience.
* Solid understanding of thermodynamics, piping design, pressure equipment, and related standards.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* Fluent in English
* Danish language skills a plus and an advantage.
