Mental Health Social Worker
Salary: £38,976 – £52,767 (DOE) + £3,000 retention bonus every 2 years
Contract: Permanent | Full-Time | Hybrid working
Location: Wandsworth & Richmond, London (office attendance approx. 40%)

Are you passionate about supporting adults facing mental health challenges? Richmond and Wandsworth Councils are seeking dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Social Workers to join their established Mental Health Social Care and Reviews Teams.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in improving the lives of residents by providing professional, person-centred social care within a supportive and collaborative environment.
🔹 What you’ll do
*
Provide a duty/front-door service, including signposting, advice, and risk assessments.
*
Undertake Care Act 2014 assessments and create strengths-based, outcome-focused support plans.
*
Manage a complex caseload, carrying out reviews and ensuring proportionate care.
*
Lead on safeguarding adults enquiries, including Section 42 investigations.
*
Work in close partnership with health professionals, housing, and voluntary sector partners.
*
Conduct carers’ assessments and build positive working relationships with families.
*
Complete mental capacity assessments, best-interest decisions, and Court of Protection work.
*
Prepare social circumstances reports and attend tribunals as required.
🔹 What we’re looking for
*
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
*
Post-ASYE experience (minimum 1 year in a statutory setting).
*
Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act, and safeguarding frameworks.
*
Excellent assessment, communication, and multi-agency working skills.
*
A commitment to empowering service users and promoting independence.
