Job Description

Are you an engaging, empathetic individual with a passion for supporting young people? We are looking for a Mentor to work with a young person currently transitioning into Year 10, who is seeking a positive and nurturing adult relationship to help build confidence and explore their interests. About the Young Person: Transitioning into Year 10 Has an EHCP in place Fantastic sense of humour and loves jokes Enjoys cooking, skateboarding, and DJing Looking to build confidence and engage in meaningful, enjoyable activities Available for mentoring 4 days a week, with flexible timing (mornings or afternoons) As a Mentor, you will: Provide 1:1 mentoring support for 10 hours per week (with potential to increase to 15 hours) Build a trusting, consistent relationship with the young person Plan and participate in interest-led activities such as cooking sessions, skateboarding outings, or music-related experiences Support the young person's social and emotional development Drive the young person to and from activities as neededAbout you: Experience working with young people, especially those with ADHD, ASD, or additional needs A calm, patient, and creative approach Strong communication and relationship-building skills A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)Position - Mentor Contract or position start date - ASAP Contract or position end date (if applicable) - N/A Full time/part-time - Dependent on candidate availability. Hours - 10 overall- Morningsor afternoons across 4 days (can increase to 15) Essential & Desirable Qualifications: A background in youth work/ support work is highly desirable Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools Experience working with learners with SEN needs is highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Enthusiasm, compassion and positivity are essential, along with a calm natureTo be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must: Hold right to work in the UK Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application Provide references upon request Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
