Are you passionate about making a difference in a young person's life? We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and proactive Mentor to support a young person in Year 8 transitioning into Year 9, who has experienced prolonged periods out of school and recently relocated to the area. Mentors may be required to drive young people to activities that are being undertaken.
About the Young Person:
Currently in Year 8, moving into Year 9
Has experienced disrupted education and is rebuilding confidence
Presents with anxiety and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
Seeking a positive, consistent adult relationship to support their development
Will benefit from engaging, structured activities during mentoring sessions
As a Mentor, you will:
Provide 1:1 mentoring support for 3 hours each morning, Monday to Thursday
Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the young person
Facilitate and drive the young person to local activities that promote confidence, social skills, and engagement
Work collaboratively with professionals and family to support the young person's transition back into educationAbout you:
Experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH needs
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)Position - Mentor

Full time/part-time - Dependent on candidate availability.
Hours - 12 overall- Mornings- Monday to Thursday
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
A background in youth work/ support work is highly desirable
Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools
Experience working with learners with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Enthusiasm, compassion and positivity are essential, along with a calm natureTo be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
Hold right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide references upon request
Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
