Job Description: Network Architect
This is a detailed job description for a contract role as the UK Architecture Team Leader, fulfilling the function of a Network Architect within the UK Secure account supporting a Defence sector client.
📍 Role & Project Summary
The services are required on a Time and Materials basis for approximately 6 months, This role is essential to assist with peak load requirements.
Job Title: UK Architecture Team Leader (Network Architect)
Location: 100% Remote
Clearance: Active SC Clearance is mandatory.
IR35 Status: Inside IR35 (Off-payroll working rules apply).
The services constitute a labour supply under the Off Payroll Working Rules.
Project Focus: Providing High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) services to support the Blake Account.
Key Services and Role Responsibilities
The Contractor will carry out the following responsibilities, which include but are not limited to:
Architectural Design & Documentation:
Architect network solutions and technically lead their implementation.
Create Blueprint, High and Low Level Design (HLD's and LLD's) documentation for network solutions.
Guide documentation through internal and customer approval processes.
Create hardware Bill of Materials (BOM) to meet solution requirements.
Technical Leadership & Delivery:
Technically lead network projects, ensuring that the customer's requirements are met.
Deliver network architecture project tasks with skills in Switching, Routing, and Firewalls.
Work closely with the wider architecture team to develop solutions.
Support & Mentoring:
Provide assistance and support on architectural/technical issues to other team members.
Participate in providing mentoring support and guidance to team members to help grow skills and capabilities.
Portfolio Knowledge & Consultancy:
Gain and maintain a working knowledge of the DXC Portfolio of network Products and Services.
Provide 'soft' consultancy skills and a proactive approach to gain the absolute trust of our customers.
Continually review and enhance existing knowledge of the network aspects of common product sets and technologies.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
Basic Qualifications & Requirements
Experience Length: Nine or more years of experience in networks, including LAN, WAN, Remote Access, and Data Centre environments.
Firewall Experience: Nine or more years of experience with mainstream Firewall platforms.
Certification: Network specific certification from Cisco, Aruba, Juniper or similar at minimum CCNP level or equivalent.
NG Firewalls: Experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Checkpoint, preferably certified at CCSE or equivalent level.
Architecture Experience: Experience as Architecture/Design authority for large scale client projects.
Cloud Knowledge: Good Public/Private and Hybrid Cloud knowledge.
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Highly Advantageous Experience
Experience in one of more of the following would be highly advantageous: Aruba Fabric Composer, VXLAN, NSX-T, AWS, MS Azure.
Soft Skills & Other Qualifications
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a high level of autonomy.
Project management skills and skilled in time, priority and task management.
Leadership ability to effectively lead a team.
