Part-Time Night House Parent - Oxford City Centre Manpower Recruitment is partnering with a well-established school in Oxford City Centre to recruit a Part-Time Night House Parent. This role averages 25 hours per week on a two-week rolling rota and includes working every other weekend. This is a temporary assignment on going. Please note: This is a waking night position. Hourly pay rate: £13.84. Role Overview The Night House Parent provides a secure and caring presence for students throughout the night, offering support as required. Reporting to the Night Boarding Manager, you will be a key pastoral care figure in the Boarding House, delivering high-quality care and acting in loco parentis to students while they are in the College's care. A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare is essential. Key Responsibilities General Duties: Implement and maintain National Minimum Standards within the boarding environment. Create a safe, homely environment that safeguards student welfare. Comply with health and safety, safeguarding, and child protection legislation and school policies. Flexibly support boarding house duties and work proactively with students on Exeat applications and termly arrivals/departures. Be on duty two days before student arrival and two days after departure to support boarding operations.Student Behaviour, Welfare & Leadership: Foster a supportive boarding environment with clear behavioural expectations. Encourage healthy routines, including adequate sleep and punctuality. Manage medication safely, including administration of homely medicines and hospital visits when required. Maintain accurate student medical records using ISAMS. Build trusting relationships with students, recognising their individual needs.Domestic Responsibilities: Secure the building, manage alarm systems, and complete daily boarding house security checks. Ensure all students are accounted for at curfew times and log this accurately. Conduct regular safety checks such as fire extinguisher inspections. Maintain cleanliness standards in kitchens and facilities. Manage linen collection and laundry. Report building maintenance needs and coordinate deep cleaning or remedial work as required.Administrative Tasks: Complete all necessary boarding house checks and maintain records. Keep up to date with college policies and boarding documentation. Record shift handovers for colleagues. Log medication administration and report discrepancies promptly. Attend training as required and engage in performance management processes.Reporting You will report directly to the Night Boarding Manager and keep them informed of any issues relating to student welfare or boarding house matters. Attendance at meetings and communication of relevant information is expected. Experience and Qualifications SVQ3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent (desirable) Experience in a boarding or childcare setting Pastoral care experience within an educational environment Safeguarding training (Level 2 or willing to undertake) Comprehensive First Aid Training including first response.Personal Attributes Self-motivated, confident, and enthusiastic Emotionally and physically resilient with energy and perseverance Kind, patient, approachable, and empathetic Passionate about supporting young people's development. Sensitive to the needs of international students and families Strong communication, organisational and digital skills Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
