We specialise in helping young people overcome barriers to learning, including SEND, SEMH needs, and Emotional-Based School Avoidance (EBSA). Our work focuses on supporting students both emotionally and academically—particularly those preparing for KS4 and GCSE examinations, ensuring learning gaps are filled and confidence is built. We are seeking a compassionate and adaptable Nurture Teacher to join our team and help students reach their potential. Job Overview We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible Nurture Teachers with a strong focus on KS4 core subjects (English, Maths, Science) and GCSE preparation. You will work with students in a range of supportive environments—including libraries and students’ homes—tailoring learning to their needs, interests, and personal goals. With the ability to choose your own hours within the school day, this role offers exceptional flexibility while allowing you to make a meaningful impact. Key Responsibilities * Plan, deliver, and assess KS4 and GCSE-focused lessons, targeting core subject gaps and building exam readiness. * Adapt learning to incorporate students’ interests to boost engagement, motivation, and confidence. * Provide tailored academic and emotional support for students with SEND, SEMH, and EBSA. * Enjoy flexible working hours within the school day, designing a timetable that suits your personal needs. * Teach in varied settings, such as local libraries or students’ homes, selecting environments that best support individual learners. * Create a safe, nurturing space where students can develop socially, emotionally, and academically. * Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, and external agencies to support each student’s holistic progress. * Track progress and adapt strategies to ensure sustained academic development, particularly in preparation for GCSE examinations. * Promote positive behaviour, emotional resilience, and a growth mindset. Key Requirements * PGCE with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). * Experience teaching the KS4/GCSE curriculum, especially core subjects. * Experience working with SEND, SEMH, or EBSA students is highly desirable. * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. * A proactive, flexible approach with the ability to personalise learning and adapt to different environments. * Passion for helping students overcome barriers, close learning gaps, and achieve success. * Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a supportive team. * Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and well-being. Why Join Us? * Flexibility to choose your own hours within the school day. * Opportunities to work in varied settings such as libraries or students’ homes. * Supportive team with an open-door policy at our Wigan office. * 24/7 on-call support available whenever needed. * Access to leading online resource banks for KS4 and GCSE teaching. * Regular CPD and training opportunities. * The chance to make a significant difference in the lives of young people preparing for their GCSEs. If you are passionate about supporting students with additional needs and enthusiastic about helping young people succeed in their KS4 and GCSE journey, we would love to hear from you.
