Job Description

Occupational Health Advisor Location: Central London (3–4 days per week in the office) Salary: £50,281 plus £4,598 market supplement and £4,613 London allowance Contract: Fixed-term contract, up to 18 months Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week Working Pattern: Hybrid working available, with 1–2 days per week working from home The Opportunity We are working with a London-based organisation seeking an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to join their established Occupational Health team on a fixed-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Occupational Health professional to play a key role in supporting recruitment and pre-employment health assessment activities, while also providing support to Occupational Health clinic services. The successful candidate will lead on recruitment-related Occupational Health activity and work closely with Occupational Health Practice Nurses who deliver clinic services. While the majority of clinic work is undertaken by the nursing team, there may be occasional requirements to support or participate in clinics when needed. The role offers a varied workload, combining recruitment screening, case management, fitness-for-work assessments, health surveillance, and wellbeing support within a collaborative and professional environment. Key Responsibilities * Lead Occupational Health recruitment and pre-employment assessment activities to support the onboarding of new employees. * Work collaboratively with Occupational Health Practice Nurses, providing professional support and guidance as required. * Deliver evidence-based Occupational Health assessments, including case management, health surveillance, and fitness-for-work evaluations. * Interpret clinical information and provide clear recommendations regarding fitness for work and any required workplace adjustments. * Provide expert Occupational Health advice and guidance to managers and employees regarding health, wellbeing, attendance, and workplace adjustments. * Support managers in managing employee health issues, including attendance at sickness absence and wellbeing meetings where appropriate. * Contribute to the delivery and development of Occupational Health and wellbeing services across the organisation. * Attend office and operational sites as required, with some flexibility for remote working. Essential Requirements * Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Occupational Health. * Demonstrable experience working as an Occupational Health Advisor. * Strong experience in pre-employment screening, medical assessments, and case management. * Experience managing complex Occupational Health cases and providing evidence-based recommendations. * Excellent understanding of Occupational Health best practice, relevant legislation, and Health & Safety requirements. * Competent in undertaking safety-critical medical assessments, including: * Medical history assessments * Blood pressure screening * Audiometry * Vision and colour vision testing * Lung function testing * Ability to manage confidential medical information with professionalism and integrity. * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence at all levels.
