We are seeking a passionate and experienced Primary Teacher to play a key role in shaping a brand-new specialist school from the very beginning.
This is a unique opportunity to join a growing team and help create an inspiring, nurturing, and ambitious learning environment for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
With capacity for 96 students, the school is being designed to provide a safe, supportive, and aspirational setting where every learner is empowered to thrive both academically and personally.
About the Role
As a Primary Teacher, you will deliver engaging, personalised teaching that supports pupils with autism and associated needs to achieve their full potential.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, therapists, support staff, and families, you will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence, independence, and progress.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
Monitor pupil progress and provide clear feedback to parents, carers, and senior leaders
Lead on a curriculum area or subject specialism
Support and supervise classroom support staff effectively
Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Maintain compliance with safeguarding, equality, and health & safety procedures
About You
We are looking for experienced primary teachers with a strong background in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Successful candidates will demonstrate a proven ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet a diverse range of learning needs while maintaining high expectations for all pupils.
Essential Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Essential Experience & Skills
Experience working with pupils with SEND, ideally Autism Spectrum Disorder
Strong understanding of the National Curriculum up to GCSE level
Excellent classroom management, planning, and assessment skills
Ability to remain calm, resilient, and positive in challenging situations
Commitment to inclusive education and pupil-centred learning
Desirable
Postgraduate qualification in Autism or SEN
Experience working within a specialist or special school setting
