Project Manager - Earthworks & Civils

Our client, a leading Yorkshire based civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of earthworks and remediation projects across Yorkshire. The successful candidate will have a proven track record within the civil engineering sector, with extensive experience managing earthworks and remediation projects from inception through to completion.
The Role
Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for the overall management and delivery of projects, ensuring safety, quality, programme, and commercial objectives are achieved.
Key responsibilities include:
Taking full responsibility for health, safety, environmental, and quality performance on site.
Managing and coordinating site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and plant resources.
Leading daily briefings and ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with approved RAMS.
Ensuring permits, inspections, and compliance documentation are in place before works commence.
Monitoring project progress and implementing corrective actions where required.
Maintaining accurate project records and reporting on programme performance.
Managing PUWER, LOLER, HAVS, and other statutory compliance requirements.
Reporting and investigating incidents, near misses, and service strikes.
Delivering projects safely, on time, within budget, and to client expectations.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
Driving continuous improvement and promoting best practice throughout project delivery.
Providing leadership, support, and development to operational teams.
About You
To be considered for this position, you should possess:
A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Project Manager or Senior Site Management role within civil engineering.
Extensive earthworks and remediation project experience.
Strong knowledge of contaminated land, soil management, and remediation methodologies.
A practical background within civil engineering, ideally progressing through site-based roles.
Proven experience delivering projects under NEC forms of contract.
Excellent understanding of construction health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
The ability to manage multiple stakeholders and project priorities effectively.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
Valid SMSTS and First Aid qualifications.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
Level 6 NVQ in Construction Senior Management (or equivalent).
Previous groundworks or plant operation experience.
Experience working on large-scale earthworks, remediation, or infrastructure projects.Excellent benefitd on offer including
