Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Protection Control Engineer on a Initial 6 Month, based in the Midlands

Role Summary

We are urgently seeking an experienced Protection and Control Engineer with strong National Grid project experience to join a leading engineering consultancy on a contract basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to high-profile transmission and distribution projects, with a focus on delivering high-quality protection and control designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  * Develop and review protection and control schemes for high-voltage substations (400kV/275kV/132kV).

  * Prepare and validate protection settings and coordination studies.

  * Produce detailed design documentation including SLDs, wiring diagrams, and relay configuration files.

  * Liaise with National Grid and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with NG standards and specifications.

  * Support project delivery from concept through to commissioning.

  * Ensure all work adheres to CDM regulations and health & safety standards.

Requirements

  * Proven experience working on National Grid transmission projects.

  * CDAE Authorisation (current or recently held).

  * Strong understanding of NGTS, TP106, and ENA standards.

  * Proficient in protection relay configuration (e.g., Siemens, GE, ABB).

  * Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings and documentation.

  * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
