Lab Technician
Contract Length: 3 Months Initial
Hourly Rate: £18.02 (day shifts), £20.57 (rotating shifts)

Job Type: Full-time, ContractJoin a leading company in the edible oils and fats industry as a Lab Technician. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and safety of products such as supermarket vegetable oils and margarines. Starting with day shifts, you will move to a rotating shift pattern, with competitive pay reflecting the demanding nature of the role.
Day-to-day of the role:
Analyse packed products like oils and margarines, ensuring they meet quality standards.
Record analytical results accurately in the company's internal data systems.
Identify and log any products that do not meet quality parameters.
Receive, store, and manage product samples efficiently.
Communicate findings and important information to shift managers.
Pack and dispatch samples to internal company labs for further analysis.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, with full training provided.
Ensure accurate recording and maintenance of stock levels using an Excel-based system.
Support ongoing product development and quality improvement initiatives across the site.Required Skills & Qualifications:
Previous laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within the oils/fats sector.
Familiarity with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is advantageous.
Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Effective communication skills and a methodical approach to work.
Physical fitness, as the role involves handling samples up to 12.5kg.
Comfortable working with chemicals and handling samples safely.
Flexibility and reliability, with a willingness to work occasional weekend overtime.Benefits:
