Salary/Rate: £1568.80 - £245 per day (Dependent on experience / MPS/UPS scale parity)
Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and qualified Teacher of Science to join a vibrant secondary school community in the Preston area for the Autumn Term 2026. This fixed-term contract runs from the start of the academic year in September 2026 through to the Christmas break in December 2026.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE). Applications from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a strong science background are highly welcome.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-impact Science lessons aligned with the National Curriculum.
Manage practical laboratory work safely and effectively in accordance with CLEAPSS guidelines.
Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
Maintain a positive, structured learning environment that encourages academic curiosity.
Participate in departmental meetings and standard school INSET training days at the start of the term.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
A degree in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or general Combined Science).
Proven experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4 within a UK secondary school.
Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to student safeguarding.
An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
