Secondary English Teacher - Prestwich

Start Date: September 2026
 Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent / Long-Term (flexible)
 Salary: £168-£232 per day (dependent on experience)
 Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm

We are working in partnership with a well-regarded and forward-thinking secondary school that is seeking to appoint a dedicated and knowledgeable English Teacher from September 2026.

The Role

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will play a key role in developing students' literacy skills, critical thinking, and appreciation for literature.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured English lessons in line with the national curriculum
Assess, monitor, and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies accordingly
Prepare pupils for GCSE examinations, ensuring strong outcomes
Create an inclusive and focused classroom environment with clear expectations for behaviour
Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and departmental initiatives
Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and senior leaders to support student achievement

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Have experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a passion for literature and language
Possess effective classroom and behaviour management skills
Be committed to raising attainment and supporting student progress
Contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive team environment

Eligibility Requirements:

Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
