About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable General Cover Teacher to work across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering a broad and balanced curriculum to students with SEMH and/or ASD needs. This is an exciting opportunity to join a school that prioritises student well-being, therapeutic support, and tailored education.
You will be covering lessons across a range of subjects with pre-prepared materials or your own lesson plans, depending on the school’s needs. The role may include pastoral responsibilities and active participation in the wider school community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver engaging and accessible lessons across a range of subjects
* Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs and behavioural profiles
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
* Collaborate with SENCOs, Teaching Assistants, and therapists to support individual EHCPs
* Manage classroom behaviour using trauma-informed and restorative approaches
* Monitor and report on student progress

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
✅ QTS / QTLS (or relevant teaching qualification)
✅ Experience teaching or supporting students with SEMH, ASD or behavioural needs
✅ Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
✅ A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to teaching
✅ Ability to differentiate lessons to meet diverse needs
✅ A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable but not essential:
* Team Teach, MAPA, or similar behaviour training
* Experience working in a PRU, alternative provision, or specialist SEMH or ASD setting
* Subject specialism in English, Maths, Science, PE, or PSHE
