Job Description

Location: Blackpool, Lancashire Salary: £32,916 - £45,352 per annum equivalent (MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance available, dependent on experience) Pay Type: Transparent Weekly Pay (Strictly PAYE - No Umbrella Company Fees) Start Date: September 2026 Are you a resilient, trauma-informed teacher ready to make a real-world impact? We are seeking an exceptional SEMH Teacher (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) to join a progressive secondary alternative provision and special school network in Blackpool starting this September 2026. Traditional classrooms don't work for every student. If you understand that behaviour is a vital form of communication and you thrive on breaking down barriers to learning, this is where you belong. You will be teaching small, highly supported classes of young people who require a nurturing, relational, and structured approach to help them re-engage with education, build emotional regulation, and achieve their full potential. Whether you are an experienced special educational needs (SEND) specialist, a mainstream secondary teacher looking to transition into alternative provision, or an ECT with a strong background in nurture settings, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities: Relational Teaching: Plan and deliver an engaging, differentiated curriculum that caters to individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and complex neurodiverse profiles. De-escalation & Regulation: Implement positive behaviour support strategies, emotional literacy, and trauma-informed restorative practices to create a calm, predictable learning environment. Holistic Support: Act as a key adult and trusted mentor for vulnerable youth, working closely with on-site therapeutic teams, pastoral staff, and external multi-agencies. Collaborative Leadership: Direct and mentor a small, dedicated team of specialised SEND Teaching Assistants within your classroom to optimise student engagement. What the Ideal Candidate Looks Like: Qualifications: Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification. Mindset: A compassionate, reflective, and emotionally resilient practitioner who focuses on building strong, consistent connections with students. Experience: Proven experience managing challenging behaviours, dysregulation, attachment difficulties, or trauma-informed settings is highly desirable. Safeguarding: A rock-solid commitment to safeguarding, pupil welfare, and child protection procedures. Why Apply Through Us? With over 25 years of local education recruitment expertise across Lancashire, we don't just place you in a role-we champion your career. Working with us means you benefit from: Strictly PAYE Pay: We believe in absolute transparency. All our teachers are paid directly via PAYE, meaning the rate we agree is what you get with absolutely no hidden umbrella company fees or third-party deductions. Expert Preparation: Benefit from one-on-one professional coaching, interview preparation, and specialised support to help you deliver a standout observation lesson. Dedicated Local Network: Access to local, supportive secondary settings with strong internal progression and school-to-school collaborative frameworks. How to Apply The autumn recruitment window is moving rapidly as Blackpool settings structure their departments and therapeutic provisions for the new academic year.
