GSL Education are currently looking for compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Dinnington. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils who may experience challenges with emotional regulation, behaviour, or engagement in learning and require additional support to thrive in the classroom.
As a Social, Emotional and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will play a vital role in helping pupils build resilience, develop positive relationships, and achieve their educational goals within a supportive school environment.
Key Duties of SEMH TA:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
Help pupils manage emotions and respond positively to challenges
Build strong, trusting relationships to support engagement and progress
Work alongside teachers to deliver tailored learning activities
Support behaviour management strategies within the classroom
Track and report on pupil progress and wellbeing
Encourage positive social interaction and emotional development
Essential Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
Patient, calm, and resilient approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain consistent and supportive in all situations
Genuine interest in supporting pupils’ development and wellbeing
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
