Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) Location: Chesterfield Pay Rate: £86 - £100 per day (depending on experience) Start Date: September 2025 Contract Type: Full-time Do you have the patience and strength to assist students facing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges? GSL Education are currently looking for a dependable and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant to join schools in Chesterfield. This full-time role is ideal for those committed to supporting students with behavioural and emotional difficulties to thrive academically and personally. Role Overview: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide vital support to students dealing with anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation, or behavioural issues. You will collaborate closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to deliver personalised interventions and ongoing assistance. Responsibilities as a SEMH Teaching Assistant: Deliver 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs. Promote emotional resilience, self-regulation, and positive behaviour. Help in creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment. Collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and other education professionals. Provide support to students within the classroom as well as in off-site environments when needed. Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant: Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural difficulties is preferable. A calm, consistent, and patient approach to challenging behaviour. Strong interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills. Full UK driving license with business insurance (essential). Willingness and flexibility to travel across sites as required. An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years (with no unexplained gaps).
