SEN Teaching Assistant - Harrow

A specialist primary school in Harrow is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This full-time, temporary-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for a candidate with experience working within education or specialist settings who is looking to develop their career in a rewarding environment.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Harrow, you will work with pupils aged 3-11 who have a range of learning difficulties, autism, physical disabilities and additional needs. You will assist teaching staff in delivering learning activities and help pupils access the curriculum throughout the school day.

Key Duties

Work alongside the class teacher to deliver learning activities.
Provide classroom assistance to pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis.
Help pupils engage with lessons and classroom routines.
Assist with communication and social development programmes.
Contribute to the preparation of learning resources and classroom displays.
Monitor pupil engagement and report progress to teaching staff.
Follow behaviour management strategies and education plans.
Promote a safe and positive learning environment.
Assist with personal care where required.

Requirements

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
Experience working with pupils with autism, complex needs or learning difficulties is desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Patient, adaptable and proactive approach.
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and current educational practices.
