Job Description

SEND Tribunal and Mediation Officer – Enfield Council Fox Morris Group are working to recruit a SEND Tribunal and Mediation Officer SEN Tribunal, Mediation and Dispute Resolution Officer will oversee Enfield's Tribunal caseload including all pre-hearing work as well attendance at hearings. About the Role: 1. Plan and organise work to ensure the delivery of those aspects of the service for which responsible. Ability to work with minimum supervision, balancing using own initiative against need to seek management guidance. Ability to work to tight statutory deadlines, be flexible in approach and have good general IT skills. 2. Negotiate with outstanding written and verbal communication skills & a strong eye for accuracy & detail 3. Apply knowledge and understanding of the impact of SEND on children and young people’s educational outcomes 4. To lead on any developments in disagreement resolution/ mediation/ tribunal practice related to the SEND Reforms 5. Undertake / support consultation procedures. Identify issues, resolving as appropriate and escalating complex problems if necessary. 6. Oversee and manage all complaints (including Ombudsmen, MP/member enquires) in an efficient manager ensuring that all correspondence is responded to in a timely manner and responses are of the highest quality. Experience: 1. Ability to engage, coach and motivate teams and set clear targets and expectations 2. Evidence of high levels of customer service and satisfaction with an ability to manage potentially stressful situations 3. Experience of successfully managing performance and providing clear constructive feedback 4. Experience of successfully implementing plans and projects to time and budget 5. Experience of budgetary consideration, effectively plan and manage resources and duty to ensure efficient use of public resources 6. Demonstrates a good understanding of the political structure and role of elected members 7. Ability to work collaboratively both with own service and across other services 8. As a regular and intrinsic part of this role required you to speak to members of the public in English, the ability to converse at ease, politely and courteously with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential and consistent with the requirements of this role. 9. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral format with a variety of audiences to ensure that key issues are identified and understood.
