Job Description

Senior Civil Engineer Location: Derby Salary: 45-52k, depending on experience Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (core hours 9am-4pm) A fantastic opportunity has opened for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join a well-established civil engineering design team based in Derby. This role offers exposure to a wide range of projects, strong professional development support, and the chance to contribute to high-quality engineering solutions across multiple sectors. This position is ideal for a civil engineer who can will bring strong technical capability, a logical approach to problem solving, and an ability to communicate confidently with clients, colleagues and stakeholders. The Role You will take a lead role in the design and drafting of SuDS schemes, external works, and adoptable infrastructure including Section 38 and Section 104 agreements. Project work spans residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use developments, with construction values ranging from £250k to £30m. Many schemes are delivered to BIM Level 2. You will use industry-standard software including MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Civil 3D, PDS, and AutoCAD to produce high-quality design outputs. The role also involves supporting the team leader in the planning and coordination of workloads, ensuring projects are delivered on programme and to current design standards. Requirements include: Experience using AutoCAD for technical drawings (to be demonstrated at interview) Proficiency in Civil 3D or PDS, and InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage Solid understanding of construction processes, design standards, and H&S principles Strong written and verbal English communication skills Competence in Word and Excel Commitment to high-quality client service What's on Offer Competitive salary based on experience Industry-standard holiday allowance Supportive team environment with excellent career progression Opportunities to work on diverse, high-value engineering projects across the UK Training and development, including support toward Chartership Mentorship and structured support will be provided to help you progress toward Chartership (ICE).
