Job Description

GVR Solutions are working with a growing specialist carpentry and joinery contractor delivering high-quality packages across residential, commercial, education, healthcare, and mixed-use developments throughout London and the South East. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious commercial professional looking to join a specialist contractor with a strong reputation and genuine opportunities for progression.

Responsibilities of the Senior Quantity Surveyor:

  * Manage the commercial performance of multiple projects simultaneously.

  * Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim valuations and applications for payment.

  * Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.

  * Produce accurate cost value reconciliations (CVRs) on a monthly basis.

  * Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.

  * Manage project variations, change control processes, and compensation events.

  * Prepare and agree final accounts with clients and main contractors.

  * Review and administer contracts including JCT forms and bespoke subcontract agreements.

  * Ensure contractual compliance and protect the company's commercial position.

  * Manage notices, extensions of time, loss and expense claims, and contractual correspondence where required.

  * Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, main contractors, consultants, and supply chain partners.

  * Attend project meetings and provide commercial support to operational teams.

  * Work collaboratively with site teams to ensure commercial and operational objectives are aligned.

  * Present project performance updates and financial forecasts.

  * Provide strategic commercial input to support business planning and growth.

Requirements of the Senior Quantity Surveyor:

  * Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.

  * Experience working for a specialist subcontractor, ideally within carpentry, joinery, fit-out, interiors, or related trades.

  * Strong understanding of construction contracts, particularly JCT forms.

  * Excellent knowledge of valuations, variations, CVRs, subcontract management, and final accounts.

  * Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen.

  * Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

  * Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
