Job Description

Social Worker - Children in Need Team London Borough of Harrow Up to £38 per hour Are you a dedicated and experienced Social Worker committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and families? The London Borough of Harrow is looking for a passionate individual to join our Children in Need (CIN) Team and make a real difference in the lives of our community's most vulnerable children. You will manage a complex and diverse caseload, focusing on assessment, planning, and intervention for children identified as 'in need.' You will work collaboratively with families and partner agencies to ensure timely and effective support that promotes the safety, wellbeing, and development of children and young people. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be required to: * Undertake all work in a manner that is responsive to legislative requirements (e.g., Children Act 1989/2004) as well as corporate and national priorities. * Contribute to the formulation of the Service Plan and maintain clarity about Team priorities as they relate to the social work role and function. * Prepare for regular supervision and reflective practice consultations concerning casework practice and ensure that work is progressed and completed as agreed. * Contribute to regular individual performance and development consultations and undertake any necessary training and professional learning and development. * Take responsibility for ensuring that all work undertaken in connection with assessment, planning, monitoring, and review functions are carried out in an efficient and effective manner, demonstrating a positive impact and outcome for children, young people, and their families. * Strive to achieve and maintain best practice standards in all aspects of the work undertaken and exercise sound professional judgements at all times. * Seek direction, advice, guidance, and support whenever necessary and appropriate and ensure that the Senior Practitioner/Team Manager is notified immediately of any situation concerning risks about the safety or wellbeing of a child. * Be responsive to User’s needs, comments, questions, and complaints and co-operate with any investigation or resolution of dissatisfaction at a local level wherever possible. * Consult with the Senior Practitioner/Team Manager on all matters concerning budgets and resources. * Undertake all duties in accordance with the Council’s approach to diversity and equal opportunities. * Undertake all duties in accordance with the Council’s approach to health and safety. * Comply with IT requirements in relation to User data, casework records, and management security and information so that this accurately reflects the work that is undertaken. * Participate in all Team meetings, activities, and initiatives relating to service delivery and developments. Essential Requirements * Social Work Qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW). * Current registration with Social Work England (SWE). * Significant post-qualifying experience within a statutory Children’s Services setting, preferably in a Children in Need or Assessment team. * Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and statutory guidance. * Excellent assessment, analysis, and report writing skills.
