About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager (Engineering Management System) to lead the continued evolution and improvement of a large-scale engineering management system, supporting complex and regulated programmes within the aerospace and defence sector.
This is a high-profile leadership position within the engineering function, responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of safe and compliant engineering products and services across diverse regulators and domains. The position reports directly into the Head of Safety, Airworthiness and Speciality Engineering and offers exposure to senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
Lead and drive the development and implementation of the Engineering Management System (EMS).
Develop and manage project schedules, baselines, deliverables and performance metrics.
Ensure effective technical compliance oversight across engineering activities.
Governance
Establish and maintain an engineering governance framework, aligning people, processes and tools.
Ensure consistent application of engineering standards and procedures.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders across engineering, quality and safety domains.
Facilitate collaboration and coherent implementation of engineering practices across teams and programmes.
Process Development
Design and implement engineering processes, manuals and tools to support business needs.
Coordinate subject matter experts to deliver integrated and efficient processes.
Training & Development
Identify skills and training gaps within the engineering community and work with department heads to address them.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
Manage engineering metrics, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support risk, issue and opportunity management activities.
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven track record of leading complex engineering or systems projects.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
Experience in multidisciplinary team leadership and coordination.
Applied experience in Systems Engineering (e.g., requirements management, MBSE, verification & validation, governance and change management).
Understanding of Quality Assurance and continuous improvement within an engineering context.
Proficient IT skills and ability to manage data-driven performance metrics.
Collaborative approach to working with geographically dispersed and diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Systems Engineering or related discipline.
Strong drive for action, resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Information
UK travel may be required occasionally.
