SEN Teaching Assistant - Year 2 (Autism) - Haringey Borough - Primary School

A warm and inclusive Primary School in the London Borough of Haringey is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with Autism. This is a long-term SEN Teaching Assistant role running ASAP until July 2026, with a strong likelihood of the role becoming permanent for the right person.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting the child both in class and during focused intervention time. The child requires support with communication, routine, sensory regulation and building independence. The school has a very supportive SENCO and offers ongoing training, including autism support strategies and communication aids.

The SEN Teaching Assistant role includes:

Working 1:1 with a Year 2 pupil diagnosed with Autism

Supporting emotional regulation, transitions and routine

Using visual prompts, sensory breaks and structured support strategies

Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure consistency

Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:

Has experience supporting children with Autism in a school setting

Patient, nurturing and confident in managing behaviour positively

Able to build rapport and maintain consistent support

Reliable, committed and looking for a long-term opportunity

Location: Haringey, North London

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Until July 2026 (with potential to go permanent)

Pay: £85 - £100 per day (dependent on experience)
