Job Description
Equitas is delighted to be supporting one of our partner schools in their search for a dedicated and proactive Outreach SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a highly rewarding position supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) outside of mainstream school settings. The successful candidate will work across the North West region, delivering tailored 1:1 or small-group support to students accessing alternative education provision.
Key Responsibilities

Provide personalised learning support to students with a range of SEN needs, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and those who are disengaged from mainstream education.
*
Deliver sessions in community settings, homes, or designated outreach centres as required.
*
Build positive and trusting relationships with students to promote engagement, confidence, and progression.
*
Support students with both academic tasks and their emotional/social development.
*
Work collaboratively with the school’s outreach team, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement and review individual learning plans.
*
Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and engagement, providing regular feedback to the school.
*
Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing remain a priority in every interaction.
*
Travel between locations daily—reliable transport is essential for this role.
Person Specification
Essential:
*
Must drive and have access to your own car.
*
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs.
*
Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
*
Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
*
Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
*
Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
Desirable (but not essential):
*
Experience in outreach or alternative provision settings.
*
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA qualification, SEN training, Psychology degree, Youth Work, etc.).
