Trade Counter Assistant

Location: Watford, WD25

Salary: £31,000 - £33,000

Hours: Monday to Friday 6am to 4:00pm OR 7:00am - 5:00pm. Plus alternate Saturdays 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.

We’re looking for a passionate, friendly, and motivated Trade Counter Assistant to be part of our fantastic team at our Watford branch! If you’re eager to play a key role in a dynamic environment and help customers with their building needs, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

About the Role:

As a Trade Counter Assistant, you’ll be the face of the store, providing expert product advice, processing transactions efficiently, and keeping the trade counter running smoothly. Drawing on your strong understanding of trade products and the needs of professional customers, you’ll deliver exceptional service and support them in finding the right solutions to get the job done.

Key Responsibilities:

  * Greet and assist customers with a friendly and professional approach.

  * Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.

  * Assist with deliveries in and out of the store.

  * Handle telephone inquiries, providing clear and effective communication to customers and colleagues.

  * Help with ordering goods, stock management and replenishing the shelves.

  * Provide expert advice to customers on building supplies and hardware products.

  * Be a key player in our regular stock counts and contribute to the store’s smooth operations.

Requirements:

  * A passion for excellent customer service – we want someone who truly enjoys helping customers and making them feel valued.

  * Knowledge of hardware and building materials is essential ,

  * We’re looking for someone with a can-do attitude, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn!

  * Strong interpersonal skills – be approachable, confident, and ready to assist customers with a smile.

  * Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  * A self-motivated individual who thrives under pressure, with the ability to manage tasks efficiently and prioritise responsibilities.
