Are you a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding 1:1 role in a supportive primary school in Blackburn, Lancashire? Tradewind is partnering with a wonderful school seeking a dedicated individual to provide tailored support to a Key Stage 1 pupil with a visual impairment.
In this important role, you will work closely with one child, under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo, to help them fully access the curriculum and encourage their independence. Your responsibilities will include adapting learning materials, providing individualised support during lessons, assisting with their movement and understanding of their surroundings within the school, and nurturing their social and emotional growth. Your passion for supporting children and your ability to build positive relationships will be key to making a real difference in this child's education.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Key Stage 1 pupil with a visual impairment.
Adapt learning materials into accessible formats (e.g., large print, tactile resources) as guided.
Support the pupil's active participation and learning in all classroom activities.
Assist the pupil with navigating the school environment safely and confidently.
Implement strategies and recommendations outlined in the pupil's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Encourage the pupil's independence and build their self-esteem.
Collaborate effectively with the class teacher, SENCo, and other professionals to ensure a joined-up approach.
Promote the pupil's well-being and foster positive interactions.
Assist with preparing resources and maintaining an inclusive learning space.
